More Food!
This is where things get really crazy. To be sure, the food here has been very good. My host mom is a wonderful cook, and its easy to find good stuff around town. The lentil soup is amazing, and theres a turkish doner-type restaurant around every corner.
But tonight: Italian! My friend Katie’s host family asked her what American food was like, and if she would make an American dinner for them. I’ve been recruited to help out. We racked our brains for what American food is, and how we would feasibly make it. We came up with potato salad, casserole, and hamburgers and fries.
None of these really seemed feasible, so we decided to go with pasta. Instead, we’re going with ravioli, bruschetta, and garlic bread. And we’re making it all from scratch. Watch out.
What ideas do you have about what an American dinner consists of? Even when we asks Azeris, they don’t know. They only know what our breakfast foods are like because they see it in movies, but they just have blank expressions when considering what Americans eat for dinner. Give me some ideas and we’ll see if we can make them happen!
**The added bonus to this is that I’m going to be working in the kitchen. Katie’s host family didn’t believe me when I said I know how to cook. I’m hoping this goes well!
