Azerbaijan is Given to Random Occurrences
It is not an undeserved generalization that random things happen in Azerbaijan. Nearly every night, Katie (Her’s is the “AZ Mac” blog) and I exchange text messages about the random things that are happening to us, like when her host grandmother started teaching German to her, or when her host sister asked whether she believed in snowmen, snowmen that come alive at night.
This may pale in comparison to the snowmen, but I thought it rather remarkable when my host father pulled a two-dollar bill out of his wallet. That’s rare in the U.S. Very rare. But who’s to say that a two-dollar bill can’t make it to Azerbaijan? Weird.
