I Found a Way Around the Mud
The trick is this: Freeze it.
We finally had our first, what I would consider, cold day here in Lənkəran. I woke up yesterday morning to find frost on the ground, and my bedroom was especially cold. Even though I’ve double-layered plastic over the windows, it still gets a bit drafty. Lighting the stove in my room for two hours before I go to bed doesn’t quite do it. It’s okay until you turn it off; that cold just zips in and the heat gets shooed out of the room.
Walking to work on these mornings is enjoyable, though. I love a good, bundled walk in a frozen morning, when it’s cold enough to tickle the tip of your nose. The extra bonus is that I didn’t have to navigate the mud pits from my home to the city. In fact, I could just glide right over the top of them, as they were frozen and could do nothing to my shoes. It feels like winter is finally here!
