Because it seems there’s a budget for that here. Kim sent along this gem of an article. It looks like they’re adding some more beauty to Baku. That’s great, really. I like a beautiful city. Bringing in alien species when the native trees are just as good is a bit sloppy, but I’ll forgive them that.
The best part of this article is when they start talking about the flower budget. In any given year, the flower budget could be anywhere from 14-20 million manats, depending on your sources. That’s a rather heavy draw from the bankomat. So, this pushes me to two questions: first, what is a flower budget in any other country? Do they keep track of that sort of thing? Second, why be shy about it? If you’re going to spend money on flowers because you think it’s important, and you know you’re spending a comical amount of money on them, you might as well be proud of it.
