Remember When We Were Hoping For an Ambassador?
Well, we still are hoping for an ambassador. Despite the rampant rumors spreading about Matthew Bryza’s nomination, it has not yet come to fruition. Instead, nothing has happened yet, and we’re waiting. Meanwhile, there is a lot of talk around here about withering relations between Washington, DC and Baku. Following various stories, such as this one about Coca-Cola, and this one about military exercise in Azerbaijan, this one about drugs in Azerbaijan and the ever-present disgust with America’s treatment of Armenia, things aren’t really on great footing.
Fortunately, Eurasianet has provided us this gem, a reason for hope for US-Azerbaijan relations. And we will continue to wait for an ambassador.
