Just another blog about Azerbaijan.

This Isn’t Just Any Celebrity Passing Through

I’ve been trying to keep up on the steady flow of celebrities and big names passing through Azerbaijan.  It’s been tough, recently, though because of the seemingly endless parade through Baku.  Maybe it’s Baku’s recent ratings as a world nightlife city and one of the more expensive cities in the world that has garnered such big-name recognition.  But this guy is no run of the mill celebrity..  He’s a Wisconsin connection, Al Jarreau, the seven-time Grammy award winner. A Milwaukee, WI native, he’ll be giving a concert at the second annual piano festival in Qəbələ.  Last time (and only time) I saw Al Jarreau was in Naperville, Il, at North Central College.  From Today.Az:

The jazzman`s concert will take place on July 27, according to Farhad Badalbeyli, rector of the Baku Music Academy. The festival will also feature a joint concert by Badalbeyli and Murad Adigozalzadeh and also the performance of Russian pianist Boris Berezovsky. The festival will be co-organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Azerbaijan Union of Musicians.
