We probably can’t blame news agencies themselves here in Azerbaijan for the sometimes bizarre reporting that goes on. And especially if it’s an Azeri news source publishing in English. English can be tough to get the hang of, especially coming from Azeri. The languages are so different in logical structure, phrasal structure, and idea-building, that it would take some serious work to really get to fluency going either from English to Azeri or Azeri to English. Of course, when it comes to news reporting, a portion of blame can also be laid somewhere else. So when we read stories here, it’s probably good to cut them a little slack on their English-language coverage.
That all doesn’t take away from the enjoyment of this story from Today.Az:
Food products made from the meat of dead animals have been revealed in Azerbaijan, press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office said.
That’s right: dead animals. Make sure you know what you’re cooking up next time meat is on the menu. You’ll want those shanks fresh and moving when you get ’em on the grill.
To be sure, I’m actually a fan of Today.Az. They provide a lot of news all the time, as can be evidenced by the plethora of links I provide to their stories, even if sometimes its quality leaves a bit to be desired. For a little more humor at Today.Az’s expense, though, our friends over at Other Means Politics have a great post on Today.Az’s stellar coverage.
