A Sunday Poem (on Monday*)
This week’s poem is called Consolation (Təsəlli), by Mammad Araz (Məmməd Araz). We first read a poem by Mammad here. Check out his Azeri.org page here. Enjoy Consolation:
Consolation
Comfort me in my difficult days,
I can do without food and water.
If you visit me as I draw my last breath,
Bring some hope in your eyes. When you feel the last alarm,
You don’t feel hunger for food or water,
Yes, at the last minute, at the last breath,
You long for consolation.
For the Azeri, read below…
Təsəlli
Mənə dar günümdə təsəlli verin,
Yaşaya bilmərəm susuz, çörəksiz.
Ölüm ayağında qapımdan girin
Gözləri dolusu ümidlərlə siz.Sonuncu çağrışı duyanda insan,
Nə çörək, nə də ki, su acı olur.
Bəli, son ayaqda, son anda insan
Yalnız təsəllinin möhtacı olur.
*The Sunday Poem comes to you on Monday this week. No internet over the weekend due to some amazing activities in Qəbələ that you will hear about soon!
