Student Wins Obscure Prize
As reported by the APA, a student named Collin Daniel won the ever-prestigious Heydər Əliyev Award today. There are some who might contest how wonderful a prize this really is to win. But that is not to say that they didn’t do interesting work. The MSU News Service tells us, “Daniel won the award for his work in the political science class, ‘Model Black Sea Economic Cooperation,’ a diplomatic simulation course that is unique in the United States for its emphasis on the region surrounding the Black Sea…”
It also goes on to tell us that the course was taught by Thomas Goltz. Goltz is a man who has adopted the Caucasus region as his own. You can’t go too far around here without tripping over his Azerbaijan Diary. He also has a Georgia Diary and Chechnya Diary.
Congratulations to Collin Daniel on his award.
