A Note From the Culture Desk

We’ve already mentioned the Whitney Houston phenomenon.  Over the last week and a half, a new player has entered the stage of cultural anachronisms.  It’s Elton John.  Host Mom has been watching the music video for Sacrifice by Elton John for the last week or so.  It apparently has taken Whitney’s Bodyguard slot as the morning music video.  And then I arrived at work to hear Sacrifice blaring from the speakers of my colleagues.  I’m pretty sure I’ve never heard this song before.  Sacrifice isn’t the hit that I think of when I think of Elton, but it has apparently taken Lənkəran by storm, 25 years later.
