Not Commenting, Ctd.
This is another one of this type of post. As I said before, I’m not actually going to comment on protests that happen here in Azerbaijan, because of their political nature. As a Peace Corps Volunteer, we generally stay out of such things. However, as I also said before, it’s pretty lame to have a blog about Azerbaijan that does not at least point out that there are people protesting in the capital. All I’m doing here is pointing out that these things are happening and that there are places where you can read about them.
So, you have a variety of places to check to out, from Azeri news organizations to leading newspapers: RFE/RL, News.Az, Yahoo! News, Washington Post, Boston Globe (and just so you know, it looks like all the news organizations are now picking up the AP story at the WaPo and Boston Globe links). Interestingly, while News.Az at least has an article up (whatever the quality may be), Today.Az doesn’t even have a whisper of the protests happening.
there are somewhat organized protests going on in Baku today, quickly taken care of by the police and additional riot police.
